I'm not going to tell you can or can't accomplish this job yourself. I will offer the contact of Noe Garcia dba N Y Garcia. He replaced the water line tile and replastered my 35 year old unite pool and did an excellent job. I think he will do just about anything you want involving a pool. 832 398-4601

Buddy of mine owns bay pool company in denham springs. He does fiberglass drop ins and gunite pools. They do great work. Check out the fb page
