Every outlet has been saying 2018 pick. Could very well be the 2017 pick, but I'm giving dell the benefit. If it's a 2018 lottery protected, it's worth it every way you look at it. More so if you are adding ajinca

Make the case for how Okafor is a viable long-term piece for this franchise? Because i fail to see it.

While also seeing an injury prone player that if the fit is not right will see his trade value plummet and will be unlikely to recoup our losses....A typical theme with this franchise.

Keeping in mind that so far Philly is rejecting a lottery protection. They want some chance at a lottery pick.

He's 2 years younger than Buddy, with 2.5 years left on his rookie deal, and averaged almost 20ppg as a teenager in the NBA

Also, the last thing I care about when building this team is what/who fits Gentry's system. Gentry's a bum who has no chance of being here long term. That dude's hypothetical offense two years from now shouldn't even be a consideration.

1. He's young, talented, and produced efficiently when given the chance. the potential is still there.

2. at worst, he's bad which results in us still playing poorly and collapsing into a top 3 pick. even beyond this year, it is a minimal risk investment.

3. at best, he's a talent that we can build with and gets going along with this team into playoff contention come 2018. we also either msis the playoffs or make it this year, but we found another piece we could legitimately build with at the end of the day.

Say it is for a lotto protected, this is all speculation of course, where is the downfall? He sucks, we continue to suck, we keep the pick. He plays well, we improve as a team, we lose the pick but make the playoffs.

The worst case is us playing well, okafor not being a part of it (highly unlikely), and we lose the pick and okafor is dead trash.
