Suits just feel so limited to me now. I love being able to create my own style with sportscoat/tie/dress slacks combos.

I have to wear a suit, jacket or pants everyday. I have mine custom-made, there is a ton of decent custom online suit makers.
Find one with a travelling tailor, get him to measure you, order 1 suit to start, see what you like/don't and how it fits/doesn't then adjust accordingly. Most places will give you a $100 tailoring budget for each suit.
They keep your measurements on file so its easy to adjust them as you go as well.
As far as materials go, you can get a suit for as little as $200 up to more expensive grade material for like $1000. Having full customization is great for suits, can play around with styles and cuts to find what you like best.
Most places do dress shirts as well which is really great. I have a helluva time finding properly fitting dress shirts as I have really long arms and torso, so I'm typically getting them tailored in anyways. Nothing better than a properly fitted shirt/suit.

Suits? HA. If the occasion requires anything more than dress slacks and nice shirt I am in the wrong place.

The problem with suits is weight fluctuations. If you gain or lose 5-10 pounds it's off and doesn't look well.

I don't buy suits anymore. I've been on a sports coat and dress slacks kick lately. I mostly buy at Dillard's now.

This dude gets it. Also allows you more flexibility in sock colors too.

No offense, but I just don't get this look. I've seen a couple people who can pull it off, but I definitely can't.
It's so tough to no and look like some private school high schooler or some toolbag country club dude with this look.
If you can do it good work, but I definitely can't!

John Phillips, London.
I hear Arafat gets his there. As do Mr. Takagi and Hans Gruber.

Suit supply. Brooks is a good second if you're just getting sports coats.

I have a designer that custom makes them for me. Not for someone who is trying to save money, but if you don't mind dropping $2000-$6000 then it will be the best suit you've ever worn

I work at Sid Mashburn in Atlanta if any tiger fans in UGA country want the best suit for the money. Fully canvased. Italian made. Beautiful garments. Fantastic point of view and design. Complimentary alterations for the life of the suit.

Not accurate. There's a time and place for everything.

I am in one 5 days a week.
Over the last 10 or so years I have purchased about 25 suits from Brooks, Perlis, J.Hilburn Custom, Rubenstein's, and Jos. Bank.
I like the Perlis labeled the best as far as fit and wear, but the JosBank suits can really take a beating too (their higher thread count line--Signature Gold).
Monday thru Friday I wear the Brooks, Perlis, and JosBanks...weekends and social events see the others worn.

adult men shouldnt wear sports coat and slacks with a tie. Sports coat and slacks are casual. if you feel the need to wear a tie, wear a suit. You cant have both
