Trump and Black History Month and Freddy D.

The twitter universe et al, is going crazy over Trump's comments about Douglass, MLK, Black History month, etc.
Myself, I think this is being blown way out of proportion. I tried to search the news to find the "real" story. But that's proving too difficult. The media bias is flooding the search results, repeating the same narrative.
My thoughts on this : ( please correct any "alternative facts" ; I'm piecing this together from bits I've picked up, and there's conjecture also. )
Trump's purpose that day was meeting with black leaders, etc. I heard it referred to as a"listening session". My understanding is that it WAS NOT a breakfast honoring Black History Month. The people in attendance there were there to discuss issues with the president; not to hear a speech about Black History Month.
Trump's been meeting with groups all week long; he was likely ready to get the meeting rolling, to get things done and wasn't about to give a long talk about Black History. YES, his comments were awkward; YES, he talked a lot about himself; YES, I like semi-colons. But that's Trump. The bottom line is that after the comments, he had discussions with these leaders. Pastor Darrel Scott reiterated that black gang leaders are wanting to meet with Trump.
No one in the media wants to discuss anything beyond Trump's comments. Why isn't anyone talking about what this listening session accomplished. Isn't it pathetic what everyone is focusing on? , as far as I can tell, this was not a "Black History Month" breakfast, was it?
If it was, I feel that Trump would have been more prepared, with an actual speech, with a TelePrompTer. He appeared to be talking almost off the cuff, occasionally glancing at some notes. I can even understand the comment about the MLK bust, as Trump simply may have wanted to make it clear that there was no iota of truth to that story. His comment about Freddy D. being "recognized more" may have come from the fact that a Frederick Douglass Exhibit had recently opened at the new Black History museum.
I just think it's ridiculous what the left is focusing on. DJT is concerned with MAGA , while the stupid left is all bent out of shape regarding his comments which were supposedly so disrespectful, ignorant, etc. HE WASNT THERE TO GIVE A SPEECH, HE WAS THERE TO MEET WITH THIS GROUP AND FIND SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS. We've had 8 years of a polished, erudite president. Look where that has taken us.
Again, please let me know what I have wrong. Maybe this was supposed to be a big speech on Black History. If so, Trump wasn't prepared for that.

It was about black history month. Here is entire video of his "little breakfast and get together" for black history month. Why else would he have all those black Peeps around him? The vid should answer any questions, including those about his fumbling and bumbling on Frederick Douglass

If you're going to write a book every time Donald goes full tard, you'll probably need to quit your day job.

I'm just saddened and sickened about Frederick Douglass' silence surrounding the Bowling Green Massacre. When is he going to speak up????

Most people I know are stuck on the fact that he turned the whole thing into a conversation abot the evil media and his feeling persecuted. Guy is such a narcissist that he turned praise for black leaders into a crybaby session about himself. Nothing nee

Uhhh... Is it really that much to ask that the POTUS knows who Frederick Douglass was?
