Everyone should get involved, if you care about your community. The reason why SWB is now mayor of Baton Rouge is because not enough responsible and job working tax paying citizens of Baton Rouge were involved to make a stand and a difference.

To have him sit in on the North Baton Rouge transition team and now be a contributing member to the "law enforcement committee" is a disgrace to the men and women who uphold and serve the law.

And it's all done by the city's elected mayor, who by all accounts, appears ready to divide the city even further.

As I said in a previous thread, Hello St. George.

It too horrifies me that GC is on the citizen advisory committee, but if Gary truly had had his way SWB's new "policies" for police wouldn't have been so benign and obvious. I really believe Broome is keeping him close so she can try to control him. That is what smart people do with agitators & outsiders to try and make them feel part of the process.

She really only got up there to grandstand because she didn't DO or say anything the police don't already not do or is a law now. Besides the article in the BRBusiness Report was more well written than The Advocate (go figure) and stated that most of the recommendations came from within the LE community itself. I'm also pretty sure the race workshops were a thing before SWB became mayor.

Gary is still bad optics though. And the mayor is most certainly out to shake things up in the police dept.

BTW, St. George has had its fair share of violence as of late. Don't see that changing. Nor does creating a city guarantee a separate school district or even better schools. While I'm on the fence about the effort in general, I don't think people realize what a cluster it's going to be for families who suddenly have no BR High and Lee High. Lots of folks on Magnet tracks will be out in the cold. The current crop of children will be graduating from college before any new schools are build to handle capacity. Don't think that this isn't front and center on the minds of a lot of SG residents.
