Selection to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is not limited to NBA/ABA players only.
Yao Ming was a superstar in China and helped build the sport internationally.
I vote yes based on those criteria not his NBA career.
If I was an administrator for the HoF, I'd want him in based on the marketing potential to the thousands of Chinese tourists that visit the Northeast each year.

He asked this on the OT, it just got moved here. Therefore with no context on the board I assumed he was inquiring whether or not Yao's life was HoF worthy.
