You HAVE to eat deep dish pizza. *Giordano's Pizza was my favorite. *Portillio's Hot Dog (not just a hot dog place)

Wife and I are going in April and staying at the Whitehall Hotel. I want to know from the locals where should we go for the best deep dish Chicago pizza (b/c we've been to NY and I could live on the NY traditional thin crust, don't want to try it in Chicago) near our hotel ? Also, what is the best place to get traditional Chicago style dogs (second favorite to kraut dogs) around the Whitehall ? If a short Uber ride is called for I'm all for it.

Near your hotel? Lou Malnati's and Giordano's are both a short walk north and south on Rush.

Pequod's and The Art of Pizza are two of my favorites. You can Uber to either. Otherwise, you can take the Red Line to Fullerton and walk to Pequod's or the Red Line to Belmont and walk to The Art of Pizza. Both are about 20-minute walks.

Portillo's.

If you don't mind Uber or train, Devil Dawgs near DePaul in Lincoln Park is good, too. You would just take Red Line to Fullerton.
