Building a new home, and was wondering what type of things you guys would add to future proof your home. Any recommendations on outlet placement that I may not have thought of, hdmi, security, etc? TIA.

Personally, I'd wire it with CAT6 ports but use channeling so that if something better comes along, it makes for easy runs.

If the house is large, or has exterior areas you might want ready access to WiFi, install some ports into the ceilings. Make it easy to put in Wireless Access Points.

You definitely want to run some cat 6. If this is a large house you definitely want to have multiple wifi access points and having those hardwired is 10x better than a mesh solution like google wifi and others.

I still run ethernet to all of my TV streaming devices because why the hell not. No reason to go above cat 5e for those runs if you want to save a few bucks.

I really like my parent's outlets in their soffits outdoors. Makes decorating for Christmas super easy. Plus they've added some extra outdoor lightning in the back yard with it.

I'd get wire run for outdoor speakers on your patio. 10x cheaper than sonos.
