My source is extremely positive on Wilson. Admittedly it is one of those "family member works with us" sources, but they are very positive.

People throw the term elite around meaning can't miss number one players in the country and it's frustrating. Stars and rankings are talked about to a point of naseum on these boards because people need some form of validation or their pissing match with other fan bases. While I admit, these ranking have become a fairly decent barometer for program success, it's definitely not an end all be all type of thing that it's portrayed as. Let's face it, most of these kids that are ranked in the top 300-500 are kids that are better atheletes than anyone they have ever stepped on the field with. This is often overlooked, because some of these kids that are considered elite in the eyes of many, never transition into the type of player that is expected from their respected fan bases. On the flip side, because one kid is ranked 32nd and one is 126th, we often blindly ignore the "lower ranked" kid because it doesn't fit our narrative when we are in our weekly squabble with opposing fan bases. These rankings that we love to hate are fueled by selling subscription first and foremost.

No we don't. First, we don't ignore them. Second, we place more emphasis on the higher ranked guy because there is a far greater chance he will pan out than the lower ranked guy.

Gary was the pick of the litter by the different services, but Ed Oliver, Lawerence, and Alexander were all top five guys and all are considered elite. I'm sure LSU is pleased how the two guys they got played this year and most of us expect to see them make more of an impact this year with a season of experience under their belts.
