The Pendulum of politics

As we see the start of Trump's presidency and how it has ignited extreme joy in many while sparking extreme hatred on the other side, why do most people that are upset not look at the reality of what has happened.
Politics in a representative republic will generally work like a pendulum. It always pulls back to center. Pull too far in one direction and you are just as sure to go back as far in the other.
Under Bush the pendulum swung similar to Clinton. However, once Obama took over, things swung so extreme left and so quickly that it was almost guaranteed to do the same in the opposite direction once he left.
Dranatic and rapid change will only ignite more rapid and dramatic change in the other direction. Once this happens, the momentum will tear the pendulum apart and thus the entire livelihood of nation.
This is what we are witnessing today. Not because of Trump, conservatives, or liberals. This is because extremists on both sides and in the end the massive majority in the middle which are center or a bit to one side or the other of it will suffer the most. We can only hope and pray for a miracle at this point.

Obama wasn't a true radical leftist but his social policies shocked middle america. It was too much, too fast. 8 years ago even democrats wouldn't openly support gay marriage. Then in 6 years the nation got not just a "let the states decide" marriage policy but a federal ruling forcing it on every state. Then that was followed up with forcing public schools to let transvestites go to the bathroom of their choice. And then Obamas support and even encouragement of the anti police sentiment is what really turned middle america hard right. Not to mention Obama trying to convince us that Islam is as peaceful and tolerant of western values as Christianity. It suddenly felt that if you were straight and white that you were the problem with everything in america. It made middle america no longer passively tolerant and instead looking for an advocate.

This is what I don't understand.
What social policies were out of the norm?

Oh stop. Bruce Jenner in a dress on the cover of Vanity Fair. Cops getting murdered in the streets in cold blood by black panthers. Huge riots in cities from coast to coast.
You will say it's wrong to blame Obama for any of this, but he took the blame, and that's why Trump is president now.
