How can you support a Muslim ban?

Credit to a friend of mine. I asked to post this on a conservative forum and he gave the thumbs up. Let's hear what you've got.
How can ANYONE support Trump's Muslim ban? Here are some facts I've collected that show how severely misguided it is in every conceivable way:
Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order that for the next 90 days will prevent ALL IMMIGRATION from seven predominantly Muslim nations: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. This applies to over 134 million people. Admission of all refugees will also be suspended for 120 days [1].
First of all, let's not pretend this needs to be a partisan issue. Many republicans and Christians are against the Muslim ban including Mike Pence himself [2].
Some people support this because they believe Trump's alternative facts. "We will do everything in our power to keep the scourge of terrorism out of our country. People are pouring in from regions of the Middle East. We have no idea who they are, where they come from, what they’re thinking".
This is just not true. The US refugee program is easily among the most extreme in terms of rigorous vetting across the globe. To be admitted into the US as a refugee, you need to go through a 21 step screening process, an average wait of 18-24 months, about five in person interviews, multiple background checks, and even if you are admitted, the vetting does not stop. If you are unaware of how difficult this process is, I encourage you to read one of the first hand accounts of refugees linked below [3,4,5,6].
In the past 40 years, we have given a new home to over 3 million refugees. I'm having trouble finding a definitive source , but it seems that somewhere between 0 and 5 Americans have been killed by these refugees. According to one report, the chance of being killed by a refugee terrorist in the US is one in 3.64 billion [7].
In the fourteen years since 9/11, the United States has taken in 784,000 refugees, only three of whom have been arrested for terrorist-related activities. All three are currently in prison, and no deaths resulted [8, 9].
What about immigrant terrorist attacks as a whole? 98.6% of all deaths from immigrant terrorist attacks came from 9/11. They are virtually non-existent otherwise [10].
Yet, the Syrian civil war is a real problem. Since 2011, it has killed more than 90,922 civilians [11]. And across the world over 65 million people are currently displaced [12].
Who are the people that support this executive order? Are they Christian? How can someone read the teachings of Jesus Christ and turn their back now? So many people are hurting and we have so much to share. And if you think this executive order is at all American, let's not forget the words on the Statue of Liberty. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
And let's also not pretend for a minute that Trump is approaching this issue with any finesse. Trump's executive order could block 500,000 legal US residents from returning to America from trips [13]. Furthermore, all nations where Trump's empire conducts business are conspicuously missing from the banned list of nations. They include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Turkey which has faced several terrorist attacks in recent months [14].
In the past 40 years, no American has been killed on US soil by a citizen of the banned 7 nations, however, nearly 3,000 Americans were killed by citizens of the 4 aforementioned nations where Trump conducts business that are not affected by the ban (mostly victims of the 9/11 attacks) [15].
I honestly do not understand how anyone can support this executive order. If you have read through this and still support it, please explain to me why.

Terrible idea. However, there isn't a Muslim ban. Yet.
Stupidity abounds so I'm not counting it out.

I wonder if anyone has read what Emma Lazarus thought about immigration other than her shitty poem.
ETA: Hint: she didn't even think her distant Ashkenazim relatives from Eastern Europe were civilized enough to assimilate in to America. No, that was only for other Sephardim. If she thought that, you can only imagine what she may have said about Africans, Latinos, Arabs, Asians, etc., of today. Huddled masses my arse.

Mike Pence tweeted that in 2015, his opinion has changed.

Good point, I'm sure checking the ISIS registration database is one of those steps... oh wait... there isn't a way to tell if they are radicalized.

This isn't a 40 year issue, this is a recent times issue.

See my thread on how he didn't choose the countries, Obama did.

I'm pretty sure you can go to Minnesota and find that is not true. Those Somalians are pretty brutal.

Muslims have bitched for years that whatever goes on in the Middle East is not America's problem and we shouldn't be there or interfere. Let them deal with there own problems. It's not the USA or my tax dollars responsibly to deal with it..

Your friend is a fig who thinks he is smart and likes to hear himself talk. You should beat his arse, after he gets done watching you service his wife.
