He's lived in the biggest market in the US for 40+ years and has learned well at how to play the press in general to keep his name out there.
Press as complacent and stupid as the national media and D.C. press corps are easy for him because he knows what reaction he will get out of them and can set up five moves ahead like a chess master as a result.
