Your post requires clarification...
Bush's ban was only on federal funding of stem cell research on stem cell lines created after September 2001. It didn't ban private funding of the research and it didn't ban federal funding for research with stem cell lines from before that date.

Are people down voting this because it is factually wrong or because they don't believe embryonic stem cell research is worth private investment?
