What I am saying is that the whole car buying process needs to go back to the drawing board

well you could always go to the dealership (or call) and pay them exactly what they are asking. They won't dick around with you at all, if you are willing to pay the sticker price. It seems to work well in grocery stores, clothing stores, etc. You don't haggle over the price of a six pack or your athletic shoes, do you? No, you simply pay what is asked. You have the same option with dealerships.

I don't find buying vehicles difficult at all.

I find what I want and tell them what I'm willing to pay out the door for it. Don't care about how they break that price down. I'm willing to spend or finance X to leave with said vehicle. If you don't want to or can't sell it for X, that's fine. Call me if you change your mind and best of luck selling it.

2nd to last time I did that, the sales guy jumped on it

You win some and lose some.

Right, but in this case the dealership still has the overhead of paid salesmen. If the price isn't negotiable, there's no need for salesmen at all, in which case the price of the vehicles should drop

Eta: there's no need for salesmen at all in the current system. All they do is take you on a test drive and relay info from the finance manager. Let me pick out a car myself and deal directly with a finance manager.
