Don't have a CCP and not likely to go out and get one in the immediate future.

I'm almost always hunting alone and this year most of my hunts were with a bow. Would add a little peace of mind to have some extra protection while unpacking/packing my climber and walking to/from hunting spot, especially in the dark. This story always comes to mind because I hunt the same WMA this happened at.

You just have an irrational fear, nothing is coming to get you in the dark...

Such situations are not uncommon for hunters who target wild hogs or any other type of big game. Sometimes the hunter is on a trail that the animal intends to use, and the hunter has two options: Get out of the way, or get run over.

Even if you did want to get one, LSP is backed up about 14,000 applications right now. They are understaffed and overwhelmed. Classic - a Constitutional Right being slowed down by bureaucracy.

I've never understood why you aren't allowed to open carry a handgun for the hunt. If it's only bow season I think it would be pretty easy to distinguish a handgun wound on a deer versus one from an arrow.
