The problem for Atlanta is the out of staters are coming from areas that already have teams.
Yeah I think its going to take a generation of kids growing up who were born here to adopt the Falcons. Even if people would adopt teams as a secondary team it would help out.
There is a lot to be excited about in Atlanta right now with a new Braves stadium with an awesome entertainment center outside the park, new falcons stadium, good falcons team, new soccer team etc.
Now if the Falcons could win a SB, it could lay groundwork for a big uptick in support.

Atlanta will probably always be a mediocre attendance sports city, but a Falcons win should certainly dispel the stupidity of people acting like it is pre-LJ Cleveland. There have been regular points of success in Atlanta sports for my entire life, it's far from a truly depressing sports town.
The Braves are a solid "brand" and the Falcons have largely shed their previous stigmas to become a more liked team these days. Atlanta United looks like it'll be a potential force in MLS. I like the Hawks but I don't watch enough NBA to know how we'd be viewed.
But I don't think Atlanta is going to surge and start packing out every stadium for years to come, particularly in an era where that is getting harder across the country.

I think an iconic player like Julio Jones could help with that. With that being said, ATL needs to win a title in one of its three big sports to grab some attention.
Personally, I kind of like the fact that Atlanta is viewed as a place with people from out of state that have their own fav. teams.

It would help get them as a secondary team for people that come out of the nfc south foot print.
