The coaches are on the hook for not trying something different if a qb sucks. For example the NC year, JJ performed poorly while a good backup sat the bench during the NC game.

In fact, there were two. Lee and untried Mett. Both could have done at least as poorly as JJ did that night, and would probably have both done better.
Making a change at QB is like making a change at Head Coach. If the status quo is A) not acceptable and B) not going to change on its own, then there is literally no reason not to make a change.

This. It drove me crazy to watch JJ come out there and stink it up without letting one of the other QB's see if they could do better. This was the greatest inhibitor of Miles being successful. Being unwilling to make change when it was needed.
