Some people enjoy recruiting and working with young guys as opposed to a bunch a divas that make more money than you.

I don't believe NFL DC's make even close to 1.8 million.

i don't think it's an issue with recruiting

it's the coaching ego. Aranda likely thinks college is beneath his ability as DC, and if he keeps this up at LSU he'll show that it is. if you truly believe that you're brilliant, AND you are driven, at some point you're going to want to face off against the best
