Yes, but there will also be numerous other ancillary costs that people never think of. My mother was run over by a drunk driver eight years ago while walking in her neighborhood one afternoon and had to undergo nine weeks of intense inpatient rehab to relearn everything in her life from brushing her teeth to talking to eating to etc. The travel expenses alone on the family for long-term rehab are often a huge hurdle. I know the family and can assure anyone that all funds raised will go to great use for this senseless tragedy.

the state worker's comp program is a good one, but there is always a lot of financial burden on the family that they have to bear. disability pay is only a percentatge of normal pay. he will likely be treated in some out of town facilities for a hell of a long time, so if family wants to be present, they either have to sleep on a couch for months or a hotel room.
