I think that's more of a you understand frat culture or you don't. The ridiculousness of the frats and sororities was better than 50% of the humor in Animal House.

I think current comedians generally become dated. Somehow I never got the Billy Crystal humor on SNL, I guess I was just a little too young for that.

On that other hand (with the exception of a few skits) I was probably too old to think Will Ferrel was something new and different. Most of his SNL comedy was a sort of a viewer schadenfreude for his humiliation. I suspect people watching his skits 20 years from now will feel about him in teh same way most people today feel about the Martin/Short "wild and crazy guys" routines.
