How would "the market" effectively shape healthcare when it's completely full of upstream regulation already?
There is no health care free market. It ceased to exist with the implementation of medicare/medicaid and has only gotten worse. And the status quo pre-ACA was not great. It just seems that way compared to the shite we've been exposed to lately.

there are actually a ton of winners under ACA. The thing is they probably don't realize how much ACA helps them. And the losers realize how much ACA hurts them.
This lends itself to the notion that ACA sucks balls being wildly accepted. But if it were to go away, there could a lot of people holding the bag, especially people ages 50-65. Who can't get coverage on the open market, and would pay higher premiums without ACA limits.
They were more likely to vote for trump.
