I personally wouldn't do anything "artificial noise" wise ... they'll get used to that and then can't sleep without it which can end up also being an issue.

My kids are 24, 19 and almost 16 ... their sleep patterns were all different. To me as long as they are sleeping for good stretches at night, it's all good.

Also, mine slept in their own baby bed from day 1 ... no in our room, no playpens, no "be extra quiet" around them ... worked for us.
