I was obsessed when Snoop and Dre and NWA hit the scene
to this day i still play it every week on spotify.
I have a hard time deciding which is better- Chronic by Dre or Doggystyle by Snoop.
Thoughts?

Chronic is better but just by a little.
Bitches Ain't shite is the best track out of both albums.

Whoa, whoa. Which and whose acclaim is first? They didn;t all "hit the scene" at the same time."
First of all, Dre was a part of NWA that produced "Straight Outta Compton", "****z4life", and the EP "100 Miles and Runnin'" and that was all them...little competition.
"Eazy-Duz-It" was released in 1988 and then "5150" was released after the breakup.
Then, Dre made the Chronic album which was platinum. E made a comback at that album with "It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa" in 1993.
As far as others who were "hitting the scene at that time":
Ghetto Boys and Scarface (solo)
UGK
Mobb Deep
Schooly D
Boogoe Down Productions
Big L
^Those dudes each carved out gangster rap in separate/different territories. Snoop came soon after, but he is not part of the NWA stuff.

Beastie Boys. Rap was a white Jewish phenomenon. These guys got ripped off big time.

Chronic.
Doggystyle was awesome too. Snoop went to shite after that though.

The Chronic is iconic but don't forget about:
Geto Boys - We Can't Be Stopped
Ice T - OG
UGK - Hard to Swallow
AMG - Bitch Betta Have my Money
Ice Cube - Death Certificate
Frankly, I never cared for Bone, Biggie, or 2Pac

Chronic for sure. Played the hell out of both, though.

Natural Born Killas is my favorite rap song. N.W.A was awesome.

Loved them both but if i'm choosing, i'll take Doggystyle. Just what I like more, not saying one is better than the other.

It was the best era in rap IMO. I prefer Doggystyle. Snoop has never come close to topping that album.
It was just the combination of funk, the style of rap, and add Nate Dogg into the mix and you have some great music.

Lol, the beastie boys are terrible. The antithesis of "gangster"
