People from Charlotte will tell you that Charlotte is God's gift to man, but I've always found it to be pretty lame. At best, the cool parts of Charlotte are mini versions of the cool parts of Atlanta.

I lived there for a few years in the late 90s, can confirm. Though, there has been a recent push to revitalize the downtown area.
