Home network hard drives

Can anyone give me recommendations on home network drives?
Will mainly be for photo storage but need the network so other family members can add/look at pictures.
We have been using Google Drive and Dropbox, but have most of that filled up already and prices seem pretty steep.
Any ideas would be appreciated
Merry Christmas!

If you want to go with a NAS, I would look Synology, Qnap, or Drobo (that'd be my personal order of preference). Or If your router accepts USB inputs, you could just plug in an external router to it.

I would look into some sort of personal NAS to hang off your router. Western digital and netgear make some.
And remember, no matter what you think, or someone says, RAID is not a backup.
If it's important, set up some sort of backup drive for the NAS for the eventual drive failure. Trust me.

We tried the prime photo but it is kind of bulky and confusing to use.

quote:
What is a RAID?
Redundant array of independent disks. In its simplest form (RAID 1) two disks are mirrored, both containing the same data. If one disk fails, no data is lost and you can continue operating. Pop in a new disk and data from the remaining disk is copied over to create another mirror image.

Thanks.
Do any of these come with mobile apps for easy file transfer?

Synology has all kinds of apps. I pissed around with different (cheaper) brands before and Synology's OS is on a different level.

I am giving my family the Synology 216play with (2) 3TB drives for Christmas. Two children in the family have exponentially increased the data I'm saving now. And the interface is supposed to be great.
