What the best place to live is depends on the following questions:
1. Are you married?
2. Do you have kids?
3. Can you afford to send your kids to private schools?
4. Do you like to go boating?

If you're not married, the answer is New Orleans.
If you don't have kids, the answer is New Orleans.
If you have kids, but can't afford private schools, the answer is Ascension Parish or certain neighborhoods in St. Tammany.
If you can afford private schools for your kids, Covington, Old Metairie, Lafayette, and Uptown New Orleans, and the Garden District in BR all come into play.

If you like boating, I'd recommend Diversion Canal (AP side has great public schools as well), Mandeville (ballers only need apply), and that one yacht looking area in Slidell.
