NOLA ChristmasFest

Plan changes now have me down in NOLA and the Convention Center area on Christmas Day for lunch and I've got a few hours to kill before heading back to the Northshore.
Fulton Street will just about wrapped up on Christmas Day and I'm considering the ChristmasFest but haven't heard much about it other than that it includes the inflatables for the kids, ice skating rink, an area for snowball fights and cost is $20 per person.
Anyone here been and have any thoughts?

We brought the family down there (3 kids aged 8,6 and 4) and it was a good time. We got there right when it opened and could walk up to everything (inflatables, carnival type rides, ice slide, ice rink) and get right on. We stayed from 10am until 2pm and the kids had a fun time. It started to get crowded when we were leaving. But, it was worth checking out.

Went last year and we are going again, it's a pretty good time. Kids will enjoy it

Went for the first time yesterday... way later than we wanted but we brought the 6yo, 3yo, and baby at 5:20. The crowds were minimal (maybe a 5 min wait for that ice slide), otherwise no wait. They loved it.

Thanks...we've got a 12:30 lunch at Chophouse so I am thinking we would be there probably right about when they open tomorrow at 2pm.
My daughter wanted two things for Christmas...a Hatchimal (which my wife got) and Snow. Looks like this may be the best I can do to give her some snow.

Yes, we went on Xmas eve last year and it was a shitshow. Only good thing about it was they served beer.
There were a lot of poors
But hey, there's inflatables and an ice skating rink.
Instead We're going bowling at Fulton Alley then go see Rogue One at Canal place this year.

For $20/head I would think it would keep most of the rif-raff away.

You would think.
And if you don't get there early enough they will stop letting people in the ice skating line. They will tell you it's full and too backed up.

Is city park Christmas in the oaks open on Christmas Day? If so do that instead. I've never even heard of Christmas fest.

Well, they open at 2pm so hopefully if we're there shortly after they open it won't be too bad.

Yeah, Celebration in the Oaks is not even a possibility. I'd go watch a movie before I did that.

FWIW - If anyone is interested in the future, the Polar Express train ride was legit!
