Coaching changes certinally hurt. That and during the season O is really limited on how much he can recruit, he can't go to high schools so he can only see the recruits in person if they come to a game. Which he brilliantly encouraged kids to save their official until the season ended where they knew who the coach was, and because of that we got some kids right before the dead period.

ETA: there's a major difference between recruiting coordinator and head coach. Les surrounded himself by great recruiters and les was the guy who finished the deal. Head coaches don't really get into the grinding part of recruiting and unfortanetly that what O is really good at.

I always find it incredibly humorous when LSU fans whine and blame everyone under the sun when they lose in-state recruits....yet, recruiting all stars and gladly accept OOS with open arms.

Shouldn't we get both?
It seems to me that we should at least lock up most of the top ten instate.

Les Miles was too busy reworking the offense this past offseason.

Because no one has recruited against LSU in the last year than LSU fans.

LSU fans hated Miles.
LSU fans hate Alleva.
LSU fans hate O.
Conversely, LSU fans love Saban and bama.

If you're a player in the state of Louisiana, these are the conversations you hear on the internet, radio, tv, and in person.

Imagine if LSU fans actually talked up their team—I think we'd see more LA players stay home.

Someone finally said the truth about why we lose some recruits and don't get others.

If you think other coaches don't use this against LSU you are part of the problem.
Truth is usually the answer that people close their eyes to.

Solid post. 2 thumbs up.

It is always humorous to hear about state pride etc. All these kids care about is making it to the league.
When the GOAT coach comes into your home & says "I will make you a millionaire", it's tough to turn that down.

Also, the locals will only "take care of you" if you perform at a level which would get you in the league anyway- which the majority do not.

Point of rant is- you want to keep the boys home? Make home the best overall option.

This. They'll call the dude a traitor and this and that, yet are jumping through the roof to get a Jamal Adams, Kevin Toliver, Saivion Smith, or Jacoby Stevens. Guys were going crazy expecting, and some still expecting, to get Cam Akers, and see Etienne as a fall back.

See? This is exactly what I was talking about in my prior post.

We put more players into the nfl, yet supercoon saw fit to praise that other coach and cite their (poorer) record of preparing players for the league as the justification for recruits to choose them over LSU.

It's retarded.

Lots of good info and solid posts on this topic.

I would add that there is still over a month before national signing day and some undecided LA recruits should sign with LSU, so no one should panic yet.
