Like you. His offense and philosophy has underwhelmed me and is the basic offense that about 2/5th of the college programs use -- Soft. I like the more traditional diversified pro style that Canada is going to bring. Every year, the new can't miss coaching prophets are hyped ridiculously. I also think that PJ Fleck is an ADD corn pone, and would not fit in well in S. Louisiana.
His offense and philosophy destroyed big 10 records on a yearly basis, beat Nick Saban with a 3rd string QB getting his 2nd start, and won a national championship.
At the FCS level in his first year as QB/OC, his explosive offense led Texas St to their first ever playoffs and the QB was 5th for the FCS version of a heisman. They were first in total offense in their conference, and 8th nationally in scoring offense.
At Rice in his second year, his offense led the team to a 10-3 record, up from 3-9 the previous year. His QB passed for over 4100 yards and 44 TDs, and ran for 700 yards and 12 TDs.
The guy destroyed a much better Navy team by 21 last year. He beat Petrino, Fisher, and Stoops with talent that comes nowhere near theirs. He's had to deal with losing most of his good players from last year, and many players this year were injured.
