Stupid shite (stuff that is not practical/unrealistic)is happening in almost every scene.

If someone has seen, for example, Jurassic Park before seeing Empire, their view of Yoda is skewed in a way that wasn't possible in 1980. If you only had it's contemporaries to compare to re: FX, you would've seen it differently.
Younger movie buffs discount the amazing job Oz did with Yoda in bringing that puppet to life. Puppet Yoda from TPM was totally cringeworthy by comparison, so much so that it was replaced by CGI Yoda in later editions, and rightfully so...even though Empire puppet Yoda >>>>>>> revised CGI/TPM Yoda.
CGI fighting Yoda was cool. I'll give it that.
