Ha ha. In a handoff play the rb has far less time to adjust. He cant adjust at all until he gets the ball closer to te LOS.
The toss play allows the rb more time to adjust because he doesnt have to run 2 yards to get the ball.

the point of the play is to catch the ball with a head of steam. If the play is not well blocked its fricked because the RB cannot make a good cut at that speed. You are pretty much committed

Good RBs still gain yards on poorly blocked hand off plays.
