Chip kelly ran the same play 50% of the time and had all of 4 running plays in his entire playbook.
you always say that but those few plays had multiple options to them once the plays started and were hard to defend due to that.

the toss dive should have a place in our offense but you have to admit we over used it and used it at inopportune times. You shouldn't do it regularly into stacked boxes.

It enables the rb to get his eyes on the line quickly.
how can you say that when 90% of the runs out of that play ended up with the RB running into the back of the OL.
It actually does just the opposite. RB has a lack of options as far as cutting. Catching the ball with that much momentum is a fossil play from Miles 1970 playbook.

not a toss dive here. More of an off tackle play, closer to a toss sweep then a toss dive

Comparing Oregons offense with LSUs probably doesn't help your argument that much. Chip Kelly didn't run the toss dive.
It most certainly helps in the discussion we were having. A poster said running a low variation of plays is what's wrong with our offense. Oregon had all of 4 running plays and they did great.

And I think it's a cool play and it does sometimes work, but again I wonder why no other team runs it with such regularity?
Most teams dont take a significant amount of snaps under center.

Name one team in the NFL who runs a toss dive and/or has success?
New England Patriots.

Congrats. Surely you dont think you have more knowledge than miles and belichik right?
Whether you like it or not the toss dive has been an extremely productive set for us.
Cfb analysts breaking down lsu's toss plays...

This is your basic Power play but it’s done from my favorite aspect: the toss!
Countless LSU fans have cursed the “Toss Series” of plays LSU has uniquely installed over the years, but it’s by far my favorite run concept and nobody does it better. Actually, outside of Georgia and Arkansas, teams rarely do it at all.
But notice how quickly the ball gets back to him and provides him with a little bit more time to navigate the run opposed to your average run-of-the-mill hand off.

Same concept, this time with the great Fournette receiving the toss; it’s hard to think of a back more explosive than Fournette so you want to get the ball in his hands as fast as you can.
But hey what do these guys know? They only get paid to break down film and give their opinion.

What? You can run multiple options out of the iformation too.
Stop acting like their are al these variations out of the zone read option. The qb either hands the ball off or keeps it. The zone read spread is far far far less complex than a prostyle offense.
Its has to be to be able to run hunh without the use of helmet radios.

Thats just untrue.

Ha ha. In a handoff play the rb has far less time to adjust. He cant adjust at all until he gets the ball closer to te LOS.
The toss play allows the rb more time to adjust because he doesnt have to run 2 yards to get the ball.

YOU should be the NEW LSU coach...
YOU act like YOU are better than Coach O.... Why didn't LSU hire you????

If its such a flawed play then why does Belichick use it? I guess he is archaic too

the point of the play is to catch the ball with a head of steam. If the play is not well blocked its fricked because the RB cannot make a good cut at that speed. You are pretty much committed
Good RBs still gain yards on poorly blocked hand off plays.

It most certainly is not.the point of the play is to get the rb the ball as quickly as possible.

Lol. Says the guy that thinks he knows the reason for a play over a guy who asked Miles what the reason was and wrote it in an article.
The point of the toss is too get it in the hands of the rb as quick as possible.
I can link the article.
Im sorry you football ignorance is proven once again.

Are you really suggesting that Miles doesnt know what the point is of a play he calls?
Its common knowledge that getting the rb the ball as quickly as possible is the point of the toss.
The fact that you can sit here and say you know the point of a play more so than the guy calling the play is laughable.
