This right here. If you visit there's really no need to learn the local language.
One of the best experiences of my life involved the great fortune of sitting next to an old Dutch guy on a flight from Amsterdam to JFK. He had kids in the US and was on a visit.
Turned out that as a teenager he lived in Arnhem when Operation Market Garden went down. I've been there too as a tourist. His memories were quite vivid, I shut the hell up and listened for about five hours while he told me about watching thousands of parachutes land on his dad's farm, and what happened during the battle, the aftermath, etc.

Absolutely. Europeans, in general, speak better English than many people born in the US. I can't understand half of the people that I hear on a daily basis here in the US.
