Read up on their thoughts via their forums. Some of the talk was eerily similar to LSU fans but on a smaller scale with their own set of unique issues. Talked about the SEC throwing gobs of money at coaches which is a little ignorant since LSU pays into the university.

Pitt fans on LSUs interest

On another note took a look at the boards earlier in the year. A lot of doubt about Canada early on. Now it seems hes near cult like.

Interesting comments. Most know what they're talking about when they say no way can Pitt match LSU offer. That's a big reason he will jump

It's obvious they're scared of OF what they believe will happen. Fans seem to really think it will be a big loss for them.

Some of them really think LSU won't offer more than a million. Little do they know we got out HC half price at Wal-Mart and have some extra spending cash.

LOL, LSU pays coaches more than anyone. Most schools in the SEC pay coaches more than other schools. So yes SEC throws gobs of money at coaches, doesn't matter if it's LSU or the TAF, still reps LSU.

Yeah I saw that. I wanted to make an account just to tell him that LSU will pay up to probably 1.7 in a heartbeat. We would have paid Kiffin 2 mill probably. Going bargain bin shopping for your HC has some benefits I guess.

Yes. I know. The ignorant parts were the bits about SEC schools doing anything to get a coach like shutdown the Biology department. I understand its a joke but its based on the ignorance of how it actually works. In the thread I find it ironic they constantly complain of the admins not spending the money and blaming the fans.

Its a stark contrast to LSU fans being upset we didnt give jimbo 7mil for 10 years..

From the Pitt board:

quote:

Lastly, before we hear the negativity about us not paying, it's nearly impossible to out bid an SEC school for football coaches. SEC schools would rather get rid of all academic programs at the expense of winning football games.

I know its a foreign concept to these folks but they don't realize that most schools in the SEC don't need more from the academic side to support the AD. We don't get rid of academics to win football games because we don't need to.

Dude, they're yankees. As football fans, they have to tell themselves that to feel better about being inferior in a pastime they care dearly about.

1. I do recall Duzz saying they had an agreement that Canada would not be a one and done OC. Obviously I'm sure there were caveats to that agreement (ie. pay adjustment) but based on the fact that they are good friends and had this agreement, theres a good chance Canada stays and uses the LSU talk to fatten his wallet at PItt.

Hmmm

Could be wrong but regardless of whether or not LSU offers, I think Canada stays at Pitt. Clearly, hes going to LSU to "listen" to what they have to say. He'll use that the renegotiate his Pitt agreement and get more money from Barnes. I think some of the savngs from cutting JD loose will go to upgrading and keeping the assisstants and HCPN Happy.

Couple of other things to keep in mind.

1. Canada has complete autonomy at PItt with Duzz.............

2. A great working relationship with Duzz........(don't discount the first two factors....particularly after working for his last two bosses)

3. A conference where its easier to have successful offenses and where going against Bama's talent is not the measuring stick.

4. He made a commitment to Duzz that he would not look to make a lateral move (ie another coordinator position) I'm assuming that has some qualifications on maintaining a competitive salary.

Would be a huge loss if he went but...........just because LSU comes calling doesn't mean hes automatically gone..

Does this guy really believe LSU is a lateral move??

No, the foreign concept to us is that universities are for education. People in Pennsylvania actually contribute to their academic endowment as opposed to in Louisiana (and Arkansas) where people just donate to the TAF (pig fund).

Academic endowments:

LSU = $788 million
Arkansas = $948.6 million
Pitt = $3.589 billion

Pitt fans need anxiety meds about as bad as the bulk of my fellow LSU fans on here. They are all freaking out too. Just in smaller volume. ??

That was meant to be a laughing emoji not a question mark. Canada is going to be a hell of an OC in this system though.

Doubling your salary at a better program with better players with a bigger spotlight.
