If you have a good router I'd suggest the fire stick
I don't have issues with the new one
Getting kodi on the fire stick or fire tv is cool but I really just use my own Plex media server and Netflix mostly

can i put all the christmas movies into a 'subfolder' of watchlist? trakt is a bit confusing at the moment to me.

The stick is just Wifi and plugs directly into an HDMI port on your tv. It has a slower processor and less Ram.
The Firetv is a box much like AppleTv and Roku. Has an Ethernet port that allows you to hardware to your internet, faster processor and more ram.
IMO, using wifi for streaming opens you up to more issues than a hard wire connection.

No. Put them in your collection. I tried watchlist at first also, but they disappear as soon as you touch them. If they are in collections it's like having a library in the cloud.

Make sure you set to alphabetical order on trackt site. No way to sort your collection from kodi. Once you have a collection of movies and shows assign the collections to favorites in kodi for quicker access.
