Beginning of the season heading to the duck blind we suddenly hit a wall of fog hit a piling siting out the water in lake Salvador. Put a 6" gash in the front bow of the boat luckily it was above the water line. Just curious about others adventures

I got shot by my dad hunting Wood Ducks on the bayou a few Thanksgivings back. He was chasing a wounded one that kept diving on him. 8 BBs went through my hip-boots and into my thigh. Its a funny story to tell around the holidays.

I was using a trolling motor to put out Decoys one morning before light, it was frozen over and cold as it gets.
When I popped the handle to pull the motor up it broke and cut the tip f my freaking ring finger off. Blood spurting everywhere .

Was 14 and went dove hunting with mothers boyfriend. Sitting about 50 yards apart and we had already talked before that we will not shoot at any low birds. Low bird came between us and he shot directly at me. Had about 20 pellets in the legs and hand. Had all but three pulled out of my hand. Still have those there
About ten years ago was hanging a brand new lock-on for the wife to hunt in. Got up there and ratcheted the stand to the tree. Stepped off the sticks onto the stand and it wasnt secured. Dumped me 20 feet onto the ground. Luckily she was right there to help me. Knocked me silly and broke my pelvis. I pulled all the slack out of the ratchet before I started ratcheting and it never had a chance to catch. Dont know how I would have gotten out of there had she not been there.
Got a few phone calls from some old friends who were now attorneys Told them it was 100% my fault but they didnt care. That did end up costing me quite a bit of money for medical care in the long run

Reminds me of the story of my dad and his buddies hunting and his best friend and cousin get into a splashing match using their shotguns. They kept backing up and then his friend realized that the angle was too steep so he drops his gun and covered his face with his arm which caught about a half dozen bb's. Dumbasses

Without writing a novel, I'll just give some advice.
When the top of your climbing stand breaks and you fall backwards, hanging from the bottom piece by the footstraps, you will realize that gravity never takes a break.

Probably, and high, and teenagers. A lethal combination.

I witnessed a fatal hunting accident in 1999. Another guest shot and killed his older brother with an accidental discharge. Ended up costing the property owner several hundred thousand dollars. He and his family also never hunted again as far as I know.

I shite my pants in the duck blind one morning.
Beer from the night before mixed with a thermos of coffee and a bunch of cigarettes in the morning is a deadly combo.

We had a group of tree planters assembled showing them what to do one morning, first morning on this tract. The farm manager rolls up on his 4-wheeler and has his rifle in the old-style rubber-coated gun racks. He moved the rifle and BOOM. Thank God that fricker was pointed across the field and not at the group.
Almost blew a friend of mine's foot off with a muzzle loader I thought was unloaded - it weren't. Scares me still when I think about it.

I've had the bottom rattle down a slick-bark nuttall oak once. Like all the way to the base of the tree. How I got my fat arse contorted enough to get my feet on the top/seat portion of the stand and bearhugged my way down i'll never know. was about 20' up.

Don't forget the habenero pickled quail eggs.

White bear. I had a similar story. Got finished rabbit hunting I had a old 16 gauge I thought was unloaded told a friend I could hold the trigger and pump the gun and it would fire just by holding the trigger down of course he didn't agree with me so I was attempting to show him and on the first pump boom it went off and splattered him with mud. I was scared shitless and still think about that day all the time

Got tired of having to cut my underwear off to wipe with.

My wife used to bitch about that. And sometimes I would come home with a half of sleeve or 1 sock

That time, I was lucky enough to be able get moving, swinging kinda like a pendulum, just far enough to grab a small tree. Was able to pull up on it enough where my foot could get out the straps. Held on to the tree until I was able to gracefully fall feet first to the ground. Luckily by the time I got turned around my feet were only 6' or so from the ground (I was climbing down when it happened). Hobbled halfway to truck, then realized it was faster and less effort if I just crawled.
