Now it was impressive how quickly he installed his scheme with a frosh qb and many young players. Granted their best games came against shitbox defenses (notre dame, tech, iowa st) I just didn't see too much creativity or ingenuity in the passing concepts that would lead me to believe it could work here. Bubble screens and shots down the sideline, the odd 7 route. That seemed like it.

I will also say that I did notice they seemed allergic to throwing over the middle

Agreed. Maybe that was just him trying to limit mistakes from his freshman QB, but I was not impressed with the play calling in the few Texas games I watched this year.
