Pulling for fowler at this point. Dude doesn't live in much better conditions at home . Really surprised about naked hippy chick. She might have more skills and fortitude than i first gave her credit. It always amazes me that a more permanent home/shelter isn't started almost immediately. If you are potentially going to be there for up to one year i would start some type of crude log home with fire place

I was saying that to myself everytime they showed the next contestant's site. I've posted in the previous Alone season threads about this as well.

I don't understand why they wouldn't build a tall & wide log style cabin complete with a fire wood drying set up & stacking up the rocks for a fireplace.

I wonder if they have restrictions on what they are allowed to build by the show or by the host country...?

shows how little you know, then. Every last one of them has lost at least 1/2 lb per day, and many of lost 2x that much. So a heavy duty shelter is a complete waste of time and calories. You'll starve out long before you need such a shelter. Far smarter to focus that effort on feeding yourself properly. That means stripping off at least half a lb of tree cambium per day as well as catching 10 lbs per day (average, now, every day) of fish and game. An animal or fish's live weight is twice as much as the edible flesh it offers you. Fish and game offer at most 800 calories per lb (ready to eat) A big man, active in the cold, wet and win, can easily need 5000 calories per day. In training, in cool water 5 hours per day, Mike Phelps had to eat 12,000 calories per day and he was RIPPED, not fat. fish and game offer no carbs and your brain needs carbs, hence the need to strip cambium, even tho it's a slight caloric loss to do so.
