quote:Of course, but things ARE being manufactured here, and productivity is increasing, despite fewer jobs.
Just because things don't get manufactured here anymore, doesn't mean things aren't manufactured.

The contempt people have for manufacturing jobs, I'll never understand.
BUT I at least, have contempt for the politicians who use manufacturing jobs to justify more government (crony capitalism, increased trade regulations, forced unionozation, etc.).
In addition, I dislike when those jobs are used as some sole representation of "better times" with a focus on going back to that while dismissing the changing market.
I mean the most jobs the merrier, but I find it concerning that this is the sole focus, to a point where increasing government is argued as a justified means, while there the record number of unfilled jobs seems to he completely ignored.
I am with those that argue getting people jobs is vital, but it seems disingenuous to argue that but ignore all other sector of jobs. Focusing on both is great, but ignoring 5 million open jobs doesn't make sense.

True, the days of solid, middle class pay for a semi-skilled assembly position that lasts for 35 years are long gone and ain't coming back. We need to quit lying to folks about this so they can adapt to current and future realities.

Isn't that bc a lot of those open jobs are either part time jobs or jobs with low wages? I think that was a major reason Trump boasted the carrier avg wage per hour was $30.
