I struggled to figure out how Miles convinced receivers and pass-catching TEs to sign.
It wasn't Miles, it was the house that Saban built that was the attraction.
Don't you remember, some fans were claiming it wasn't Saban who recruited those star athletes, it was LSU.

Saban certainly helped LSU's rise back to prominence but it's false that he was the only attraction.
The 5 years he was here our average class ranking was 10
The 5 years after he left our average class ranking was 8
These past 5 years (post 2011) our average class ranking has been 6.2.

Yet the best run of recruiting came 10 years after saban. While he was winning titles at a division rival.
But honestly, Miles haters always said anyone can recruit at LSU. Don't know why Saban gets so much praise or even a pass if that were true.

Saban may have improved on the recruiting foundation laid by Dinardo, but Miles certainly took recruiting to a higher level than any LSU coach before him. Was it time for Miles to leave? Certainly. 20 years from now, we will all recognize just how phenomenal his time at LSU was.
