Hey, blackstrat1, what's the story on why The Warehouse permanently closed in '82?

Gambit did a 40th anniversary writeup a while back. Tidbit - Susan Spicer (of Bayona fame) got free admission for being on the streat team putting out flyers. But all good things must end apparently - unfortunately the Warehouse was a little before my time.

Eventually, with a little more than 12 years of wear and tear and competition from newly opened venues like the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena, the State Palace Theater and the Municipal Auditorium, the Warehouse closed its doors. The 1970s were over, and The Warehouse's era had ended. As if to illustrate a changing of the musical guard, the post-New Wave group Talking Heads performed The Warehouse's last show in September 1982.

That ticket poster is impressive...
Always heard growing up about the The Warehouse in NOLA. Looks like a dump though? How many people did it hold?
