Is it really necessary to go 100 mph in a bass boat?

No, it's not necessary. For some people like me - Yes, because we desire it.

Why? Well, "because we can".

In about 1971 I had a Challenger 15' bass boat (similar to an Allison) with 150 Merc. Would do about 62 mph trimmed out (very little boat in water). Pretty squirrelly flying down spillway on Intracoastal or Toledo Bend main channel. Boat would tell you with side to side movement (not desired) when it was too much on plane and about to lose control.

Still, what I wanted - "because we can". At start of my bass fishing club meets we would get to our prime fishing spot of the day very quickly.

Some people like the edge. I used to be one of them. Maybe I still am.

I currently have about 800 miles on my 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. 700+ hp, 125 mph in 1/4 mile, 204 mph top end (car has 200 mph speedometer). Car can get me in so much trouble if I'm not careful - it goes without saying.

Why? Well, "because we can". WTF you say - well, because people are different and every persuasion needs to be respected - "because we can".

When you have to run up river for 25 miles, it helps being able to go 82 instead of 65. My dads basscat would run around 79 tournament load, 82/83 empty, and that was only with a 250xs.

That skeeter you saw may run around the same with that 350, probably a little slower, mainly due to it being a bigger boat

People like you are a danger to themselves and everyone else on the water.

I bet those things get lots of redneck attention at the launch. Nothing like a hairy knuckled handy, right?
