I've been to a CFA that was all black employees. Not much difference in service, though I did get a spicy when I ordered a spicy deluxe.

Their corporate is pretty picky about awarding a franchise. I think potential franchisees have to go through a program that involves working in a store as a regular employee. So every now and then the person serving you food could actually be a franchise owner or applicant, which no doubt influences the staff.

There are some Reddit post that explain the process. The "owner" of each location is called the operator, and doesn't actually own the place. CFA does. They just let him operate it and keep a share of the profit. Very strict requirements. You have to start at the bottom and work up. Reddit was saying an average of 10 years before you even get a chance to apply for one. If rewarded, it is a 5 grand fee, and they handle the rest.

Buddy of mine tried to get his own store as an operator (they don't call them franchisees). He had all the credentials and had managed a store for several years prior. Great guy with a very solid background and references.

Except for one minor problem. He and his wife had divorced prior to his application and interview in ATL. Instant disqualifier.
