What core values do you understand that followers of Islam believe in?
There is one God only, Allah. The Prophet Mohammed is the final prophet of Allah, following previous prophets Moses, Abraham and Jesus. Prophet Mohammed was sent to confirm the teachings of the previous prophets and to point out the errors of the Christians and Jews in their submission to God.

How are Muslims saved? Is there a path or belief to salvation? Who is their savior if one is needed in Islam?
Muslims are not saved like Christians. The Prophet Mohammed IS NOT A SAVIOR (a great blasphemy if believed). Muslims attain the kingdom in the following ways:
• Submission to Allah; belief in no other gods beside Him.
• Attending to prayers.
• Charity to orphans and children.
• Belief in the Day of Judgment
• Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in life, if possible

What is the foundation of their core beliefs?
• The Holy Koran.

Which scriptures in the Quran are consistent with the New Testament teachings? (if any)
• The Holy Koran asserts that Jesus was a HOLY PROPHET, NOT THE SON OF GOD. While the Koran describes the historic acts of Jesus (miracles, teachings, etc.), it absolutely asserts that the belief that Jesus is the Son of God is an extreme blasphemy that Jesus himself would deny.

The Jews meanwhile, are consistently upbraided for their numerous departures from the strictures of God, given to them by their prophets. The Koran does however refer to the Israelites as the Chosen Ones.

All this coverage in the media about Islamophobia has me a little stirred...

Why doesn't the media ever ask Muslim Americans what their beliefs are? It seems ISLAM's beliefs or doctrine is skipped over...and always labeled "peaceful"...There is never conversation about the religion's beliefs or the Quran.

Why is that?

Why rely on the media to enlighten you–how often do you receive reliable information from those prejudiced morons?

Instead, get a copy of the Koran yourself and read it. ADVICE: Have an Islamic interpreter available to answer your questions, you will have many.

I read the book with an imam in Florida, which made the thing more comprehensible, although the book is rife with conundrums, contradictions and passages that invite the most extreme skepticism–just like the Bible and the Torah.

Good luck.

Islam- a radical anti Christian movement that uses terrorist actions, intimidation, and fear to try and impose their will. Not concerned with assimilation to other nations where they move but rather converting them to their beliefs or violently taking actions. Murderers who need to be nuked into oblivion.

And you show your true knowledge of the bible at the end of your none sense ..

I've read parts of the Quran with web commentary...

If you study with a Muslim, you're going to get a ton of spin. "Oh that's what it says but not what it means" LOL...ok, well, show us scripture that make the puzzle fit to make sense?

The fact is, there are no Jesus type Quotes or teachings from Mohammad himself

"love they neighbor has yourself"

"Love your enemies"

NONE!

Jesus came first...and if you understand him and his purpose, then you get Muhammad is a fraud.

when you read the Quran, you understand it's a fraud

When you observe the fruit of Islam's tree in the middle east it shows the world it is a fraud.

Cover your women, if they are raped, they should be killed, and pray to a false God 5 times a day...

Adopt Sharia Law because it's God's law!!!!
