So getting a Veteran is no guarantee. But I think all VA employees should be veterans. After thoroughly exhausting the applications for open positions, and there are no Veterans qualified available, then a non Veteran could be hired within the VA. This is not how it goes now, though it is pretended to happen this way

At least Palin ousted a bunch of shitty Repubs in AK and killed some of the good ol boy system before she was nom'd for VP and pretty much ruined her political career, the left was fine with her in AK before the nom.
I had the privilege of living there during that time.
