The sentiments and expression which makes us feel the most uncomfortable are that which require the fiercest protection.
It is counterintuitive but when you feel the need to stifle someone's speech or expression then that is the time to remember our fallen soldiers and what they died for...and NOT invoke their memory as a way to suppress that with which you disagree. Their memory is not a currency which can be traded for political leverage when it suits your needs.

Oh, how eloquently phrased. The flag stands for those sacrifices that allow this destructive concept. It would seem certainly more fitting to protest carrying a U.S. flag along with a sign for whatever your little snowflake arse is upset about. Can you grasp this alternative positive concept rather than act like a child with a match and set a flag on fire.
Personally, as stated before if you did this in my presence and were ignited in the process, I wouldn't waste the piss it would take to put the fire out.
