Almost every hire comes with some risk - even coaches with previous HC experience.

of course, but coaches with a proven track record are far less of a risk. I would think that's patently obvious.

And Saban's NFL experience is irrelevant. NFL and college ball are completely different games.

I can name a whole bunch of coaches whose proven track record of success or mediocrity didn't carry over. I'm sure that people predicted success for Texas based on Charlie Strong's 23-3 record in his last 2 years at Louisville.

Mark Dantonio was an unremarkable 18-17 at his first gig in Cincinnati. Pete Carroll took over 2 NFL franchises and ended up with worse records than the coach he replaced. Les Miles wasn't much more than mediocre (28-21) in 4 years at Oklahoma State......but that was more impressive than Jimmy Johnson was there (29-25-3) or Dennis Erickson was (18-16-1) in 2 Division I stops before he was given the keys to the Miami Ferrari.

Would you be happy if Aranda had Bob Stoops like success? Chris Petersen? Dabo Swinney? David Shaw? Jimbo Fisher? Gary Patterson? These are all coaches with sustained success in the first HC jobs.
