What if he does hire an excellent OC and they're successful?

I'd start a thread asking that, but positive questions aren't allowed here

Then everyone's happy and we're winning championships.

Having to hire great coordinators is not a recipe for success in anything but the short term. If your coordinators are good enough that you have great success, they will move on the head coaching jobs (this will be especially true in our case because everyone will know their success was due to their expertise, not the head-coach's).

When the head coach has no expertise as a coordinator, turn over of coordinators eliminates continuity. This is a major problem.

Having a head coach that has great expertise on at least one side of the ball is pretty important, and this is probably why position I do not know of one position coach that has even been made a head coach other than Ed O.

On the positive side: Orgeron is a great recruiter. It will be interesting to see if his recruiting abilities will be able to overcome the negative recruiting that will be rampant...opposing coaches will have lots of ammunition.
