I'm no Aleva fan, but this statement is either meant as a joke or it is written out of ignorance.

Aleva tried to get Herman to sign a contract and even gave him a Friday night deadline in the hopes of getting the deal done before Texas could come calling. Herman said no. He wanted the Texas job. Always has. Texas wanted him. There was literally nothing Aleva could have done to get Herman to Baton Rouge this year.

However, as I have stated previously, if you want to blame Aleva for botching the firing of Miles LAST year that is warranted. If he would have fired Miles last year, he could hired Herman in the off-season (probably for 4M) and he would have already been employed by LSU this year when the Texas job came open.
