Well if there is an easier way to do something, then why shouldn't you try to do it that way?

The way to make this easy on yourself is to get the very best coach that you can. That coach needs fewer specific hires to align in his favor to get to the same destination, a championship.

The problem is that getting to that point involved some risk to Alleva. Making a more qualified but lesser known outside hire would've been a tougher sell to the fans for Alleva, so he decided to make the hire that was the easy sell. That way, whatever happens he can fall back on "the fans wanted him, the players wanted him." He did this to avoid criticism from the fanbase. Instead of doing his job, he was a coward.
